If you are one of the lucky few who win money, you will be asked to tip the dealers. I won't play if there are unlimited rebuys. I prefer tournaments without re-buys, but will play in those with one re-buy. Re-buys change the atmosphere, as many players will be super-aggressive early on knowing they can just buy back in. Many tournaments allow players who are knocked out early in the tournament to repay the entry fee and start over. As you might imagine, just about everybody takes the bonus. So, for example, you might be allowed to either buy in for $50 and get 3,000 in chips, or pay an extra $10 and get 6,000 in chips. There are a few situations where you will have to pay more than just the buy-in:
The tournament director will often help come up with a fair split. Often the last few players will create a deal to split the prize pool rather than play it out. The prize pool is divided among the last few players with chips. You play poker until one person has all the chips. The simplest situation is that you buy-in for a certain amount, part of which goes into a prize pool, part of which goes to the dealers, and part goes to the house.
